Tees, Tea and Vinyl: Mild Orange’s Latest Merch Drop

You wanted merch reviews, here we are! Disclaimer: all of these products were purchased with my own money and while the candle and other shirt are missing off this review, I’m sure both are amazing, too.

The latest merch from Mild Orange was released on the 13th August 2021 and they have changed a few things from previous drops.

First of all, the merchandise is more sustainable and ethical, the tees are hand sewn by workers in LA who are paid a good amount per hour and even have the names of the person who made the product on the inside tag - a very personal touch that feels very Lush-like and nice. It is clearly quite important to the men of Mild Orange to make the merchandise as good for the environment as possible and are working very hard on making better quality and more sustainable products.

I went a little crazy over lockdown with ordering Mild Orange things, so this has been a very anticipated post for me to make! I ordered five things throughout the last couple of months and you guys wanted some merch reviews, so lets kick off, shall we!

Atlantic Green Long Sleeve Faces Tee: Oh my, I love this tee - so comfy, cozy and fun. The special touch to it is that it doesn’t only just have the mini Mild Orange logo on it, but it has the four faces of the band on it, all drawn by Mehrt. This tee has been a hit with a lot of my friends and family having commented on how cool this is - they think the design is super awesome and I love it as much as they do! Even the inside of the shirt is special (and spoiler: this is the same with the next tee, too). Inside, it has a smaller version of the band members drawn faces and also has a photo and little blurb about who made the product on the tag. With both of my shirts, Diego made mine - big thanks to Diego for doing such a brilliant job.

It doesn’t feel like it will fall apart like the standard AS Colour tees that bands usually print their designs on (don’t get me wrong, I like AS Colour, but the shirts used in this drop are so much better!) The green Atlantic colour actually makes me want to go out on a boat and wear this - it genuinely feels like it represents water with the green colour which is really lovely and neutral. A great addition to your wardrobe for any season. This one has been worn a few times since receiving it last week and it is definitely my favourite from this collection!

Classic Logo T-Shirt in Blue: A smidge heavier than your standard tee, just like the Atlantic green shirt. A nice sky blue colour (the lighting on my flat lay for this shirt isn’t showing it up as nice as it is in person!) with the lower case Mild Orange logo on it in darker yellow. Again, this has the faces logo inside and is also a really comfy and good quality tee to wear around. Would definitely recommend this beauty for a Mild Orange gig. It feels lightweight and breathable, great for the hotter months coming ahead over here in NZ, or even great for milder days in other places around the world.

Foreplay & Mild Orange on Vinyl: In this drop, both records have only been pressed 300 times. For Foreplay, this is the fourth pressing and for Mild Orange, the second. Both records are very appropriate to the branding. The colours are vibrant and happy - the first album being bright orange and the second being a translucent blue with a bit of white thrown in. With beautiful photo inserts shot in black and white by Cam Hay, each photo shows us a different story, just like each Mild Orange song. The unique look of the artwork for each of the records makes my heart personally happy (Mehrt did a great job at creating the art!) - it’s evident that the guys really wanted them to represent the band and show that they want each project they put out to be as special as the last. For the sake of this review not becoming too long, I haven’t written album reviews (which seems wrong, apologies readers!), but if you do want my opinions on them, here are a few words that describe how I feel about Foreplay and Mild Orange:

  • Bloody wonderful

  • Full of absolute brilliance

  • Sunshine in the form of two extraordinary albums

  • Happiness

  • Beautifully orange

Top tracks for me personally would be In The Living Room off Foreplay and One off Mild Orange.

Mild Orange Loose Leaf Tea: Brew-tiful. Brew-licious. Orange you glad you get to read my silly puns all day? This is definitely some of the most unique merch that I’ve seen a band release and that’s what Mild Orange are all about - they aren’t doing things by halves or by ordinary standards - amazing! The tea was made in collaboration with Christchurch company, Noble & Sunday, which took a few months to create to get the perfect blend of spice and nice. With hints of orange and cinnamon flowing through the brew, this is a perfect cup to sit down with at the end of the day and to catch up on your favourite write-ups on Welcome to the Gig... Or you could listen to your favourite tunes, whichever takes your fancy. What is even better is that this tea is caffeine free, therefore you don’t have to worry about being kept awake all night if you are sensitive to it.

Brew time is labeled on the cute box as one song, however, Mehrt has said to actually leave it as long as you can. The tea has no bullsh*t chemicals, therefore you don’t have to worry about what you’re putting in your body - fantastic and a great selling point! The packaging is blooming wonderful, too with a fantastic blue box with an orange label telling you everything you need to know, along with the golden writing. The tea is loose leaf, so you will need a tea infuser for this, however, it lasts for 25 cups, so you won’t be running low too quickly if you don’t drink it every day. Yum.

So, you might want to head on over to the official Mild Orange website right now and make your purchases as these items won’t last long and though they are pricier than previous drops, I can tell you with 100% confidence that every cent is worth it for the quality and exceptionally outstanding products. Obsessed.
