Hello, and Welcome to the Gig!

Welcome to the Gig is all about being able to showcase the various talented musical individuals and bands across the New Zealand music scene with passion and care for each written and spoken word.

Being from a small corner of the world, it can be harder for musicians to gain the exposure they need in order to make their dream careers into realities, and Welcome to the Gig aims to provide a spot of support by way of music reviews, gig reviews, artist interviews (both written and podcasting), features, photography and social media.

Welcome to the Gig was born out of passion for going to local gigs during covid times, as well as writing handwritten letters to artists, and therefore the website was officially born on 28th May 2021, which has included over four years of fun, getting to know countless new faces and exciting experiences.

Some notable highlights from Welcome to the Gig (so far) include:

• Getting offered a radio show/podcast on Plains Media, aptly called Welcome to the Gig (2021 - 2023)

• Holding a showcase gig in Auckland under the Welcome to the Gig name (August 2022)

• Becoming the MC for Sofar Sounds Christchurch (2025 - current)

• Getting to host ‘Artist Spotlight’ on Plains Media (2025 - current)

Welcome to the Gig is open to all opportunities to collaborate with artists and other professionals in the New Zealand music industry. I am also open to career opportunities in the New Zealand music industry, so please get in touch by way of email if you’d like to collaborate/work together!
